By now most of you read this know I roast my own coffee beans. It is a simple process wherein I put green coffee beans into a hot air popcorn popper and wait for the roasty goodness to develop.

Sam finds this process amazing. When he realizes what's going on I am then obligated to hold him over the top of the pop corn popper the entire time I'm roasting coffee. This is kind of a pain as he's getting heavy, and roasting coffee is best done by letting it roast while doing other things and checking in on it from time to time. Sam apparently never got the memo and feels its best to monitor the beans second by second.

I find it kind of hilarious as I can't figure out why he enjoys it, since he seems to be a little scared of it.

Ah well.

Sam got a haircut today.... he sat on my lap & cried. He would not sit still. Now I remember why we do it only every few months.

Lately, Sam has learned to:
stomp his feet (kind of.... we taught him, and he kind of runs in place- still adorable.)
climb down the stairs
feed himself with fork/spoon (kind of )
say uh-oh
babbles all the time, speaks---- even though we don't understand it a lot of the time

He has been playing with my old strawberry shortcake doll, and instead of hitting it (and us saying 'no') or saying nice touch (which is where he kind of strokes the person as softly as a 18 month old does) he has been patting the doll's back, like he is patting it... I guess he picked it up in the nursery, but it's really cute.

Random thoughts, but now you're caught up... also our camera is MIA, so hopefully we'll find it & you can see some pics

Generally once a week I roast coffee (I buy the green beans and then roast them fresh in a popcorn popper, it takes longer than buying it at the store but its much better). This week I came up short a day early so I roasted coffee before Sam went to bed. Roasting the coffee is a loud process, between the coffee maker and the kitchen fan to take care of the smoke, so I guessed that Sam would be scared of it and woud run away.

Boy was I wrong. He loved it. So much so that I roasted coffee with a 22 lb toddler taking up my right arm the rest of the time. Anytime I would go to set him down or hand him off to Mandy he would start yelling.

What kind of kid likes to roast coffee beans? What a nut.
